You fall into one of these three categories if you are running a small business; you have never tried out email marketing, you are overwhelmed by it or you have it down right mastered. This article is going to address the first two categories and equip you with vital tips on how to create an effective email marketing campaign.

The starting point of your email marketing campaign should involve a comprehensive look at the bottom-line, which should be your clients and/or prospects. There are a few options available that you can utilize to convert your prospects into customers. You can physically get out there and meet them, you can call them or you can email them. While meeting or calling them can be quite effective, you do not have all the time in the world to do that. This is where emails come in.

Emails are wonderful, time saving way of building a relationship with a large number of clients. You can compose one email and send it to as many as 500 folks. And guess what? It is all free!

Here are the email marketing tips:

i. While this may sound inconsistent with common reason, never try to sell too much with your emails. Let your emails be of value to the consumer. You can achieve this by providing useful information alongside the product you are marketing.

ii. Get straight to the point. Avoid rambling about. People are not out there waiting for your emails on their inbox, and probably won’t be anyway! Keep it short, precise and to the point. Before clicking on the send button, read your email at least five times removing any excess words.

iii. Instill a sense of urgency if you are selling a product. Phrases like “Only 30 left” or “Limited time only” can be great.

iv. Having a lot of people in your mailing list will not necessarily translate into more sales. All you need is to build a relationship with people who have shown interest in doing business with you.

v. Provide some free value to your customers. This can be in the form of tips related to your industry or a free e-book.

vi. Try making your emails personal to a certain extent. Write as if you are doing it to an individual with whom you are well acquainted.

vii. Having a fancy email with a lot of graphics may not be a fantastic idea after all because some customers may fail to open them properly or just mark them as spam. It’s however a great idea including a few pictures. This helps in keeping the customer’s attention while reading from you.

viii. You need to have a website, blog or social networking sites to direct your customers to. This site should provide more information about you and your products to the readers.
